Purple Heart

The significance of the title of the book Purple Heart, is that the young man that was awarded the purple heart in the military. The author picked a great title of his book because the book is about a young soldier in Iraq that wines up in the hospital not remembering where he was or why he was there. The author makes the character of his book look like a hero which anyone that went overseas and fought for our country is a hero but really the character is because put his life on the line and was injured and saw his friends get killed. The character was awarded the Purple Heart for his heroic duty while fighting. The award is a highly looked upon award in the Military today and anyone who gets an award like this feels proud of what they did. The author probably was thinking that the soldier in his story showed his Honor and Bravery for putting his life on the line for his country. The title can tell the story of the book. The Purple Heart is an award that is looked highly upon and some men or women feel like they don’t deserve it because the people they died next to should be getting that award. All in all the author picked a great title for his story to show the effect of what the soldier goes through and how they are rewarded for their duties to the country.

  1. It sounds like your book did a good job dealing with a very difficult topic. Were the characters believable? Did the book have a lot of action? Why did you like it so much?
